TEJUOSHO MARKET AND THE FRAUDULENT INVOLVMENT OF GOVERNOR OF LAGOS ,FASHOLA

We Lagos residents and the good friends of Lagos State understands the role and corrupt deeds of Lagos State government regarding the fire incident in Tejuosho Market, this is not the first or the third time that we have experience such.

Tejuosho Market was destroyed by fire some years ago and Fashola the Lagos State Government awarded the contract of rebuilding of the market to ultra modern standard.
Tejuoosho Market  was originally built in 70s by the military regime of Brigadier MBOLAJI JOHNSON as a model market. The other phase of the market was completed in the administration of Alhaji Jakande in the 1980s.Tejuosho market was destroyed by fire in the year 2004 and again in 2007 when it was totally destroyed and traders lost the means of their livelihood, worth billions of naira.
The Government should have conducted inquiry to determine the cause of the fire outbreak, instead the Government hastily displaced the traders without any form of settlement . It is surprising that the building that was more than two decades was completely destroyed by fire which the government should have claimed responsibilities.

The government before Fashola decided to rebuild the market accepted a proposal from a consortium known as Market Design & Management Company Ltd (MDMC) to design and build at a cost of N1.6billion. MDMC intended to build and sell at an average cost of N2million per shop.In the process of rebuilding and negotiation, the then shop owners understood the plan and suspecting rightly that other interests might hijack the project and priced it out of their reach.
The case was presented to the House of Assembly who invited the consortium and other government officials for hearing. The subject assured the house that it will sell the shops at not above N2million and will give priority to the 220 traders already displaced. The question is can we trust the government?
